Restaurant Al Duella near Piazza Navona

Best meal I had in Rome. Very reasonable. I highly recommend it.

Could you be a tad more specific, please, Joe?

What was it that made it so great? What did you have? What is "very reasonable"?

Did you go for dinner or lunch? How hard was it to get a table?

Inquiring minds want to know....

We had found this restaurant from recommendations and reviews that had it 6 out of 6 stars. We were traveling in from Naples that day and had 8:00pm reservations. There was some security issue on the train from Naples and we ended up not getting to Rome until 8:30pm. The restaurant was more than accommodating to more our reservation to 9:30pm.

The restaurant is small (about 10 tables) on an unassuming street a few blocks from Piazza Navona. It has the appearance from the outside as of a small, local, neighborhood restaurant. Inside it is small but not tight, clean and inviting. The walls are decorated with copies of famous masters. My kids were actually able to recognize a few of them. The atmosphere is more upscale but not stuffy. I was with my family but if it was just my wife and I, it would have just as easily been a romantic find.

The menu is succinct and innovative. I had a bacon wrapped asparagus special and the Tagliolini with sea bass, tomatoes and orange zest. For the quality of the food and the atmosphere, the prices were very reasonable. I had a Brunello suggested by the waiter that was moderately priced and excellent.
