We will be in The Ragusa or Noto area on New Years Day. Should we expect everything to be closed, or will restaurants be open? Any recommendations to see or do that day?

We will be in The Ragusa or Noto area on New Years Day. Should we expect everything to be closed, or will restaurants be open? Any recommendations to see or do that day?
We were in Rome on New Year’s day , walked the city and only found one place to eat open, offered take away pizza at a Middle Eastern deli. The city was basically shut down.
I would expect these smaller cities to be similar to Rome.
