Pre-Tour Accomodations in Venice

Can anyone please share their experience with the following places of lodging:

-- Art Hotel Al Fagiano (with specific info on whether the cost to include breakfast is worth the extra 14 euros?)

-- Hotel al Piave

We're looking to stay just one night and we know it's getting late (less than 3 months now) and options are getting fewer, but with your help we'll make it happen!

Grazie!

The Art Hotel Fagiano is in Padua. Is that what you are referring to as Venice in your post title?

I stayed there a number of years ago, and coincidentally, so was the Rick Steves Village Italy tour. Breakfast was pretty meager as I recall.

Confirming that Hotel Al Fagiano is in Padua. I stayed there on the Village Italy tour in September. Not bad but not my favorite; a rabbit warren of rooms with ‘60’s college dorm decor. Breakfast was OK, typical Italian hotel breakfast.
Hotel Al Piave is in Castello neighborhood in Venice, but fairly close to San Marco. I haven’t stayed there. The B&B I stay at is nearby.
It just depends which town you want to stay in and where you are going after one night. Which tour are you taking?

Thanks to Sam and Horsewoofie.

Yes, the Al Fagiano (in Padua) is where we will be staying with the Village Italy Tour, and we are looking to that as our "fall-back" lodging for the night prior to the tour. We would prefer to stay that night in Venice, as out flight arrives mid-morning and we would have plenty of time to explore on the Sunday and much of Monday before the meet-up Monday afternoon at Al Fagiano.

The other place of interest we found in Venice is Locanda Casa Querini. That's the one where the breakfasts appear to add 13 euros to the cost. Does anyone have experience with that property, and the breakfast offering there?

If you can find something you like in Venice, that would be great. We like the Al Ponte Mocenigo, in the Santa Croce area.

Should you default to Padua, we enjoyed the Al Santo before our Village Italy tour. The room wasn't nicer than that at Al Fagiano, but we did prefer the location, the staff, and the breakfast.

Village Italy is a wonderful tour; you're in for a good time. Happy travels!

You will love the Village Italy tour.
Since Padua is only 1/2 hour by train, I’d suggest staying in Venice. I spent five nights in Venice in September before going to Padua mid-morning on tour day 1. There is so much to see in Venice. Go to the museums or just wander around the back alleys.

I haven’t stayed at Locanda Casa Querini. But it’s on the Plaza behind B&B Corte Campana where I have stayed twice (I looked at Google maps for that tidbit) Quiet Castello neighbor, 5 minute walk from San Marco. Aciugheta is a local’s restaurant nearby in the piazza that has the pharmacy in the corner.

Buon Viaggio!
