Positano, hotel recommendations

Did you buy Rick's Italy guidebook, yet? I'm still recommending it. www.hotelpuppetto.it is family-run and close to the beach. www.hotelcaliforniapositano is a little more expensive, but with good views.

I just got back from Positano and my stay was at Il Gabbiano, a family owned and run business. While the furnishings are not lavish...the hotel set on the side of the hill with fantastic views from every room was wonderful. This hotel was immaculate with a fair breakfast included. Also just a few steps from the shuttle stop making getting to and from the main shopping and beach area easy and enjoyable. In the mornings I could hear a crow ever so softly crowing at mornings light. Loved my stay which was affordable, extremely clean and refreshing. My only regret is that I did not stay for 7 days in each city that I visited. ALSO, important to note. Though you didn't mention how you will get to Positano, taking the ferry from Salerno to Positano is 12 euros. This ferry takes you all along the Amalfi coast and is a delightful trip of about 1 hours. Just wanted to mention that!

We stayed at Palazzo Talamo and loved it. I believe every room has a balcony and incredible views.

Best place to stay in Positano is La Tavolozza!! A family-run, small inn with such friendly people, beautiful, clean & affordable accommodations, views and great location! Stay here as long as possible and be sure to have the breakfast they deliver to your room so you can dine on the large, lovely deck overlooking the water and town!
