PISA - Hotel Royal Victoria - 5/5

Singular! There is a reason this magnificent old world family owned hotel is recommended by both the RS Guide and Rough Guide. This relaxed and very reasonably priced heritage hotel was in itself one of my favourite sights in Pisa. My room was just like a small chapel, overlooking the river Arno, with fresco painting extensively used in the ceiling. Another room was like the vast pale blue lodgings of a Napoleonic quartermaster and could have housed a family of seven. Staff are very nice and accommodating and rang for a taxi when we departed. The stairs are very wide, there is an elevator/lift and breakfast. The rooftop terrace bathed in the light of the September moon and distant music was heard from the streets below, with a warm midnight breeze. That orbed maiden with white fire laden...
