Palermo dining recs for first night arrival.

We are scheduled to land in Palermo at 6:30pm, mid-week, late September, 4 days prior to the Best of Sicily tour. Staying at the Ambasciatori Hotel.
Any suggestions for dinner the first night? Not sure how jet-lagged or delayed we might be, so it might be better to eat nearby the hotel.
FYI: We have scheduled a food tour the next evening.

Thanks in advance!

There are many restaurants a short walk from the tour hotel. We were there in April and dined at Salmoriglio and across the street at Caponata Cucina, both on via vittoreo Emanuele.

The Ambasciatori Hotel has a great rooftop restaurant. Several of us ate there our first night before "Best of Sicily" last year and it was a wonderful beginning to the tour.

Buatta Cucina Popolana, Via Vittorio Emanuele, 176 is fantastic. Well prepared quality Sicilian cuisine. And the bank ATM closest to your hotel is a few feet away!

One of my favorite meals ever was at La Provenda, a tiny trattoria just off Via Roma, between the hotel and the train station. I skipped the tour outing that day, because I didn't feel well, but I had to eat. I had noticed the trattoria the previous day when we were walking from the train station to the hotel.

I had outstanding fettuccini con funghi and a raw but definitely characteristic local red wine. It was very simple, but just lovely.

There was a nice restaurant just half a block from the hotel, to the left as you exit the front. A bit further back from the street. Dont recall the name. That's about as far as we could walk for dinner. We had walked by it during the day and asked for early reservations that evening.

That was our second night. I have no appetite for dinner the first night while overcoming jet lag

stan, that sounds like the same place I went! At least, that's about where it was located.
