Padova - Dining by Prato Della Valle

We are so excited to be departing for the Village Italy tour in a couple of weeks. As suggested by RST we will be arriving a day early, a good practice to get settled and over travel day. We would love to have dinner the first night, a Sunday, with a view of Prato Della Valle but I’m not seeing any authentic spots there. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

A quick hunt turned up a bakery, Forno Zogno that may fit the bill for a place for a snack, maybe try a virtual walk round the area using google maps? and maybe a place called Exforo?

Have you tried Il Ristorante Zairo? It's right there overlooking the Prato della Velle. We ate there our first night in Padua before the VI tour, and quite enjoyed it. I don't know if it's open on Sunday, though. We loved the service. We arrived shortly after the posted opening time, and the staff were still setting the tables! One waiter claimed us, and we had a lovely evening. Stan had veal, I had scallops, and we shared an appetizer and a carafe of the house red, as well as a bottle of sparkling water. 41 Euros, but this was 8 years ago!

I saw Zairo on an area map, but thought it was mainly a pizza spot. I may have to look again and check the menu. I also saw Exforo, as is often the case there are mixed reviews and I never know if reviews are legit. I was looking for info from someone in this group that has been to those spots. We may give Zairo a shot, if it’s open on Sundays…which I think I checked and it is.

We hadn’t planned on eating there, but were standing outside the restaurant, studying the menu, and a passerby - a local - stopped and urged us to go in. We were so glad we did!
