Overnight on Capri

My wife and I are taking the 10 day Venice/Florence/Rome and were planning to stay in Capri for one night after the conclusion of the tour. Any recommendations on where to stay? We will be heading to Positano after our stay on Capri.

Thank you.

La Minerva is so special, family owned, great service and beautiful views. Stat two nights!

We did not sleep on Capri, so I would only comment that vast parts of Capri are primarily pedestrianized, so I would study luggage handling by any hotel. Local busses are microscopic and crowded. Taxis cannot reach all points. Not a slam, just advice.

For expediency's sake, I picked a hotel within a very quick walk to the ferry in the Marina Grande area (most of Capri is accessed via a funicular close to the ferry boat). The hotel was called Hotel Relais Maresca (http://www.booking.com/Share-MCSdcx) and it was lovely. I believe most, if not all rooms, faced the water (I made sure I had one). There is no shortage of beautiful and/or luxurious hotels in Capri; rather ones that are affordable. If I were to go again, I would probably stay in Anacapri at a place like this one: Antico Monastero Di Anacapri (http://www.booking.com/Share-xcT0oE).

The hotels send luggage transfer services to the ferry and it will probably be at the hotel begore you arrive.. You then take funicular, bus or taxi up to town and walk to hotel via pedestrian lanes.
We had 45 min wait in the heat for the funicular and wished we had taken a cab.

Stayed at Hotel La Palma and it was "gorgeous" in every way - artwork in the lobbies, wonderful breakfasts, great patio with live piano music; yes you have to take the funicular up but the hotel is right in the main area of shops, hotels, restaurants and a beautiful garden; would highly recommend
