Just finishing a week long stay in Ortisei in the Dolomites and the Residence Villa Stella and it was amazing…weather was great-the hotel was a steal at $200/ night for Ortisei with a 20’ balcony, full kitchenette with large refrigerator and dishwasher, free coffee, cookies and hot cocoa all day and four fresh Kaiser rolls at your door at 630sm…been a Switzerland and Berner Oberland fan for years and this is just as good if not better with the Val Gardena card giving you 10+ cable and chair lifts in the area for only 160euros for 6 days with the world famous Seceda included and our real charge would have been over 600 euros for the rides we took… great Refugios everywhere… free buses with a pass from your hotel including arrival from Bolzano-easy to get to all mountain lifts and three walkable in Ortisei… views to kill for, reasonable food & beverage & a fairy tale mountain village

Sounds like you had an exceptional experience. So great you stayed a week! Often people make short stays of 3 or 4 nights and a week makes a world of difference. We haven’t stayed at Villa Stella but we are big fans of the Val G. It is difficult to pick a favorite between a couple of Swiss locations and the Val G! Plus, you get Italian food. SIGH.
