one night in Rome before flight home

We will be taking a high speed train into Rome from Florence and arriving in the later afternoon for our return trip the next morning. We are trying to decide if we should stay in central Rome that night and take a taxi to the airport in the morning, or stay closer to the airport? Any suggestions??

It is really personal preference. If you stay in Rome you will need to get up an extra 30 mins or so. But that is a trade off we are willing to make to have one last evening in Rome. We always stay in Rome and let the hotel arrange for a taxi.

That's my thinking at the moment. Do you have an area you would recc. for a hotel?

If you stayed near Termini train station, you would have the option of taking the Leonardo Express to the airport. The Hotel Aberdeen is a good choice.

We always stay in the Termini area. For a quick one nighter with so so breakfast but only a block from the station is Hotel Contilla. Aberdeen mentioned earlier is very good and little further, about half mile, from the station. In between is Hotel Sonya across from the Opera House. It is now our preferred hotel since my wife believes that their lattes are better than Aberdeen. IMO, small difference.

We stayed at the UNA hotel which is just across the road from Termini. It was reasonably priced (in my opinion) but as British Airways were paying for it due to cancelling our flight I wasn't too bothered about the price!

A good hotel, nicely presented and comfy beds. I would stay again.

I stayed at a lovely B&B in Rome called
Ale and Nikki’s home- steps away from the metro- less than 15 minutes to Termini Station- close to everything- reasonably priced and extremely clean!! You will love it!!
