New Year's Eve in Milano

Happy Christmas,
I need your advise.
We are a couple of girls in our forties spending Capodanno in Milan. We dont feel like joining a formal party in a closed discotheque, where we can end up havind dinner with teenagers. We would rather enjoy the Fireworks and the Street party, but we fear we will finnally have dinner in a MacDonalds because we haven't made a proper reservation.
Does any of you have any experience about New Year's Eve in Italy? Do you think we can expect to find a nice place to have dinner and open bars without making reservations?
Thank you for your inputs.

I don't have any experience with New Year's Eve in Italy. What are your reservations about making reservations for dinner? If you have any candidates in mind, give a try to booking now, especially if they offer online booking. I'd also stash bread, cheese, or other goodies in my hotel room, in case of coming home late and hungry.

Thank you for your reply. We had new years eve dinner in a very nice trattoria in the center, and we celebrated the new year toasting with the rest of the clients from several countries and with the waiters and cooks , it was actually very very nice and funny. Later on we went to the Navigli area to join the party. There are lots of small bars ith music in that area. If anyone reads this for the next year, i dont advise the street party and fireworks around Duomo. It is not a nice atmosphere.
Happy new year and happy travelling for all of you!
