Need hotel recommendations

Palermo - old town, San Vito lo Capo, Taormina, Syracuse. Want to be central located in Palermo. Prefer hotel with breakfast. In San Vito, desire beachfront, restaurant, outdoor pool, parking. In Taormina I would like a sea view and breakfast. Prefer to stay in the old section island part of Syracuse.

The old section island part of Siracusa you refer to is named Ortigia which we enjoyed. We like to spend a week there when we visit. We won’t ever visit Taormina again, touristy, overcrowded!

Hi Renee,

For Palermo, I stayed five nights at the Della Vittorie Luxury Suites. I happened to meet some couples who were staying there pre-RS tour. The small hotel is just behind a restaurant on Via Maqueda, so it was very handy and safe for me to be walking around in the evening. I also liked this location a lot because I had an opera ticket at Teatro Massimo - an easy walk down Via Maqueda. The rooms on the first upper floor were like a nice American hotel room. The spacious breakfast room, which I walked through to get to my room, had a nice assortment, and he sat out some afternoon treats in that room. I would definitely stay here again, especially with the $125/night price. This is the only place I booked directly with the hotel instead of using Booking.com because of the price difference.

Not that you need it, but I second Jean’s recommendation. The staff was helpful, the breakfast was abundant, the rooms were modern, clean and comfortable, the AC worked and we were impressed there was no street noise from the pedestrian street below.

In Taormina we stayed in a lovely apartment with a private terrace that overlooked the sea and pool, and had a good view of Mt Etna. The Hotel Villa Diodoro (we booked directly) is away from the crowds, next to a beautiful park, and an easy walk to all the sites. The included breakfast was very good and could be enjoyed in the dining room or outside in the gardens. The reception desk was very helpful with recommendations and scheduling taxis to train station. Enjoy your trip!
