For a Rick Steves tour? I suspect they ask you to bring masks in case someone gets sick on the tour and you are asked to mask. There are no requirements from governments in Europe to wear masks.

For myself, I am still wearing an N95 on the airplane flights over and back to prevent picking up a cold or regular flu or something else.

Below is from the RS Tour FAQs here https://www.ricksteves.com/tours/coronavirus-faq

Am I required to wear a face mask during my tour?
If you're exhibiting symptoms commonly associated with a contagious illness (such as a cold, flu, Covid, etc.) while on tour, you will be required to wear a N95/KN95 mask on the bus and in other settings when with your group.

I don’t know now but last year they asked us to bring one in the event someone on the tour caught a cold or Covid or had the sniffles, as a courtesy to everyone on the tour. So whether it’s required it’s still courteous; as do you really want to be sitting for hours on the bus with someone coughing and sneezing?

I’m not going on a tour, but I will be bringing masks and will wear one on flights, crowded trains or any other crowded conditions. I’ve had covid twice, both times while traveling in Europe and getting vaccinated prior to the trips. Thankfully I didn’t feel sick either time, so the vaccines did their job. Even though I felt fine I wore a mask to make sure I didn’t infect anyone else.

Just bring one in case you get in a situation where someone in a enclosed area for hours is coughing up phlegm to a degree that makes you cringe.

Covid has surged again in many states. I always wear a mask on transit and in crowded stores. Especially now that most of us won't be able to get the new Covid vaccines.

We are heading on a RS tour in early and got a note about bringing some N95s with us so purchased several from the big A and are sharing with our friends who are also going.

I have a conference to attend next month before we go and it involves flying - I plan to mask at the conf and in the air. And getting a covid shot in two weeks (we leave for the tour in 5 wks) so will be ready for most anything (I hope). Always keep hand sanitizer in my pocket just in case too. YMMV but does not hurt to be masked and well.

We had a family vacation to Lake Tahoe this summer where our granddaughters from Texas could meet their little cousin for the first time in person ( only know each other from FaceTime calls)
Our son caught Covid at a work conference the previous week where people flew in from all over. So his family couldn’t come at all. So Covid is still out there for sure. Disappointing but it is what it is……

Are you asking about a Rick Steves tour? Last October there were six tour members on the Village Italy that came down with a norovirus. We were asked to wear a mask on the coach for a couple of days until we felt better. So yes, take a mask, it’s not just about Covid but any transmittal virus.

I still wear a mask when I travel, particularly on airplanes, in crowded indoor settings (museums, Metro), and anywhere else I feel the need. Knock on wood, I have never caught covid...
