Montecatini Terme

Our family of four with two teenage daughters want to stay in Montecatini Terme for one night. I'd prefer to stay in a central location but we will have a car. I'm wondering about suggestions of nice hotels or B&B's with a good location and also any spa's appropriate for teenagers too.

My wife and I have stayed at a B&B in Montecatini called La -Tartaruga which is a great place to stay, the rooms are large and very clean and Silvie serves an outstanding breakfast, she also makes reservations at places like the Ufizzi and Academia in Florence or winery tastings and tours. We have stayed there five times in the last nine years.www.latartaruga.com

Five stays in nine years, that's certainly a hearty endorsement, Mike. But right now I'm more interested in Shingle Springs in California. I've lived in CA for over thirty years, and have never heard of Shingle Springs. Just where is that, what's it like, and is there really shingles in the springs? Sounds dangerous. I don't suppose you can recommend any great agritourismos or quaint restaurants there in SS?

Hi Diane and Larry
www.la-tartaruga.com is correct.Shingle Springs is nine miles west of Placerville and has a population of 2800,there are no gourmet eating spots here, this is the land of meat and potatoes,we get our culinary fix in Sacramento and San Francisco. We moved here in 1998 from Santa Rosa to have some land, very nice small town feel.If you need Tuscany help feel free to email me.
