My wife has had a couple of knee replacements, so while ambulatory, long-distance (more than a few miles) walks won't be on our agenda. While in Rome, she'd like most to see the Colosseum and the Vatican (no surprise). We would like to walk as much as possible, so I am seeking a hotel that is conveniently located relative to, at least, those two attractions. On the map, the Minerva hotel seems a good geographic choice, but some of the comments on travel sites give me pause. Can anyone comment on this hotel, or, make a recommendation? Many thanks.
I am not familiar with Minerva Hotel, but on two different trips we stayed at Fortyseven Hotel. It is very close to the Colosseum (a short walk along the Circus Maximus where there is a metro stop). We took the metro to the Vatican, so I cannot so how far the walk would be. It is also a short walk across the river to the lovely Trastevere neighborhood. We liked the location of the hotel, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
The best location for the Vatican museums is the Alimandi-it is literally down some steps from the entrance!
