Milan Restaurants - Near Last Supper, Cadorna Train Station, and Antica Locanda Leonardo hotel

We stayed at one of Rick Steves' recommended hotels (Antica Locanda Leonardo) which was very nice, but there weren't any of Rick's recommended restaurants close by. So my wife and I asked around and searched online and found a couple that were within walking distance of the hotel that we very much enjoyed.

  1. Nico Restaurant......Via Terraggio, 20, 20123 Milano MI, Italy

Absolutely delicious traditional Italian food with a VERY friendly and helpful staff
Large portions, very reasonable prices for both the food and the wine selection
We enjoyed a couple of the pasta dishes and of course the Tiramisu.

  2. Larky's

Terrific small shop to stop for a quick afternoon sandwich, snack and a spritz
We were in the mood for a meat and cheese board one time and they just threw one together for us even though it wasn't something that was already on the menu.

Hope that this helps some of the folks that are staying in that area.

We are planning on staying at that same hotel Antica Locanda Leonardo near the Last Supper this coming Oct. How did you find the transportation from the hotel to all the other places to see? Sounds like there is a metro stop nearby, did you find it easy to figure out the trains? We will be using the hotel as a home base for 3 days. Thanks

We loved the hotel, btw. There are a few metro stations that are walking distance from the hotel (depending on how you like to walk). We spent 3 weeks touring all over Italy and got pretty good at using the rail systems. There are lots of videos across the Rick Steves site with lots of great advice on trains and how to use them. Rome2Rio, Trenitalia.com, etc....... Once you get the hang of them, it's pretty easy.

We stayed there before Rick recommended it. There were plenty of restaurants nearby. Ask the hotel to get you dinner reservations.
