Milan Hotels Near Milano Centrale Train Station

We will be in Milan for two nights in mid-September 2025 (hopefully before Fashion Week begins), then taking the train to Venice. We would like to find a hotel within a short walking distance to the train station. The Rick Steves Italy book recommends Hotel Garda, Hotel Berna, or Hotel Aosta, with Hotel Aosta being closest to the station.

Have you stayed at one of these hotels? If so, do you recommend it? How far was the walk from the hotel to the station? Or have you stayed at a different Milan hotel that is in close proximity to the train station that you would recommend?

I'd appreciate any advice you can provide. Thanks.

Hotel Berna had great service and breakfast when we were there precovid.I would estimate it's a block from the Central train station. Safe travels!

I have stayed at Hotel Berna twice. It is very close. Walk out of the station, cross the street, take the diagonal street, and I think it’s 1 1/2 blocks. The staff are very hospitable, nice room, and the breakfast was excellent both years. Both times I just ate dinner at the closest restaurant on the same side of the street. The last time I stayed there was in 2022.

We also stayed at Hotel Berna in 2022. Yes, we recommend this hotel and would stay here again if we were to return to Milan.
Difficult to say how long the walk is from the hotel to the station. Are you asking from the train to the hotel or the entrance of the station to the hotel. How fast do you walk? I recommend googling the distance. All in all I would say less than 15 minutes.

Plenty of restaurants in the area and it's easy to walk to the other sites.

I think this is as close as you can get to the station.

Enjoy Milan, it's a great city with terrific energy.

Hotel Berna is my go to place when I have to be in Milan for Business. It is a great place, not to far from the main station.
I like hotels close to the station where I will arrive, as I can always just go there immediately after arrival and drop my luggage, even if my room isn't ready yet. I can then go about my business unencumbered.

I don't know your budget or what you're looking for in a hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Bagliori last May and it was perfect for us. Clean, comfortable, simple, safe. Easy 10 minute walk from Central Station and a Metro stop right around the corner. We walked from there to see the Duomo, had gelato at a shop off the park near the hotel after school got out, which was fun, ate dinner at a local place that I would not recommend (not every thing is perfect, LOL).
