Any recommendations on a 3 star hotel, as would like to see the Duomo, Last Supper and the trendy canal area! Thank you!
Of the three Milan hotels I've stayed in the Gran Duca di York is my favorite. https://www.ducadiyork.com/en/.
When I was looking for hotels in Milan, I compiled a list of ones recommended on this forum:
Near Milan Centrale train station: Hotel Garda (I have stayed there), Hotel Berna (frequently recommended), an IBIS.
Walking distance to Last Supper and/or Duomo (and near Cardona train station): Gran Duc York (most recommended), Antico Locando Leonarda, London Hotel, and Lancaster Hotel.
I stayed at Luxury Hotel Cadorna which, despite its name, lacks some of the amenities and charm of the others but best fit my pricepoint and location preferences of those available at the time I booked.
I'm with Trotter. Hotel Gran Duca di York is my favorite. It's probably 5 minutes to the Duomo and it took me just under 30 minutes with a slight diversion to look at some old ruins, hahaha, to walk to the Last Supper.
Be sure to get your tickets to the Last Supper as soon as they open for ticketing for your time in Milan. Book only thru the official Last Supper website!

Me too, Pam!
Several years ago, we were in Milan after a Village Italy tour, and stayed at the Lancaster Hotel. We enjoyed the Lancaster very much. The staff was great, the breakfast was good.
Should we ever be fortunate enough to visit Milan again, we will either stay at the Lancaster, or the Gran Duca di York. We haven't stayed at the York, but it sounds like the location is more central, and perhaps more convenient.
We have stayed at the Duca di York more than once. We love the location, great breakfast, helpful staff and walking distance to many attractions. It’s just around the corner from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana which is a wonderful museum and we highly recommend.
I have stayed in both the Hotel Gran Duca di York (www.ducadiyork.com) and also the Hotel Spadari (www.spadarihotel.com). Both are very near each other, 5 minute walk to the Duomo or Cordusio Metro station, Duomo and other sites. I would recommend either and would stay again at either. If you like to walk, easy walk to the canal area too. Highly recommend either of these 2 spots.
At the end of a three-week trip across northern Italy, our stay at Hotel Berna was luxurious! I highly recommend staying there.
