Marriott hotel renaissance Tuscany IL Ciocco

Has anyone stayed at this Hotel. I needed to use my Marriott Vacation Destination points this year so we selected this Hotel, since we will be traveling to Italy this year.

I don't know that area or that hotel at all, but it seems to be quite some distance from most of the places I've seen mentioned on this forum--Pisa, Pistoia and Forte dei Marmi are all about 75 to 80 minutes away by car. At over 2 hours away, I'd consider Florence and Siena too far away to be day trips, but you might not agree. Lucca's much closer (less than an hour away).

I bet the property itself is nice, but I'd recommend checking driving times on ViaMichelin.com to the places you want to go in Tuscany and Emilia Romagna to be sure the location itself is practical. I suspect the rather isolated location (from the perspective of the typical American tourist) is the reason a Marriott property in Tuscany is so inexpensive.

Yes MVD points expire unless you transfer them to Bonvoy points which loose value. These points are from my hawaii timeshare. Where doing Rome, Venice, Amalfi, and Ischia.
I added 5 days at this marriott property because we needed to use these points which expire at the end of the year. This is the only property that would allow points at this late in the year. I wanted Lucca but the where booked for my date in September.

Did you look at using them in Venice? There are some nice Marriott options there, including the classic Gritti Palace.

I have been told by friends that stayed at this property and said it was very nice. Hope that helps!

Marriott lists properties but when you try to book these places they say they will not accept points. They play alot of games like this. I purchased the time share when my kids were small. It was great then because it forced us to go on vacation. It was before all the internet bookings.
We use it for other trips but overall don't make a purchase. Retired now so it really is more of a hassle to deal with.
