Lake Como - Hotel D'Este, Villa Serbelloni, or Grand Hotel Tremezzo, or...

Honeymooning in Lake Como in July this year. After extensive online research I am looking for first hand experience and advice on which hotel to choose.

Our budget is not unlimited but we're going for it, since it's our honeymoon.

If we keep it under 800 euros/night ($1100 dollars) and compare room type online it seems like we'd get into a courtyard view Cardinal Bldg (standard) room the Hotel D'Este, a Deluxe Double with lake view balcony at Serbelloni and Lake View room at the Tremezzo.

Although we couldn't go wrong with any of these hotels, I am leaning toward the Hotel D'Este as it's a once in a lifetime experience. The history, the grounds, the room quality and food. I would love a lake view but willing to compromise since we'll spend so much time on the lake anyway.
The Serbelloni is in an amazing setting below that hillside in Bellagio. I do love that.
The Tremezzo could perhaps be more bang for our buck and get us a lake view but it's above a road. Perhaps a more deluxe, quieter garden view room would be the smart choice here at that budget?

They all seem to include breakfast so that's not a factor.

Thank you for your help!

Jeremy

Too rich for my budget (although I am sometimes willing to spend more for my dinner than for my room) but you only honeymoon once.

Shared by my consulting pal, Lisa: The Villa D'Este is arguably the best hotel in the entire country which is nice bragging rights but, in my humble opinion, my preference is always a view. The Tremezzo is a distant third in this equation.

Thank you Laura. I literally just booked a room at the Hotel D'Este. I really want to stay at this hotel and since we won't be spending that much time in the room I decided the view isn't paramount. The rooms are fantastic anyway.

I cannot imagine going all the way to Lake Como for a room that doesn't look at Lake Como; regardless of how nice the hotel is. Of course you will be out touring during the day, but those sunsets and sunrises and moments that you are in the room.....you will want to be looking at the lake. We spent hours doing just that with some cheeses and wine at Borgo Le Terazze. Check it out on trip advisor. Not a single disappointed guest...... It is pure heaven.

Happy honeymooning.

I believe I remember reading that George Clooney and his fiancé were at the Hotel D'Este recently. ;)
