This restaurant is near SMN and Piazza della Republicca. It's on Via della La Spada. I would call this place an easy go- to place. Not fancy, good food, house wine is okay - not great, moderate prices. This place is casual. Food is "home-cooked" style comfort food. Like eating at an Italian relative's house. Service is friendly and efficient. Appropriate for families with children. Decor is half traditional, half modern. The ribollita soup was very good. The grilled chicken was good (not great). The roasted potatoes were good. All in All, I give this place a "B." It makes for an easy, relaxing meal.
We ate here many times (but not lately) and loved it. The spit-roasted pork is very good, as well as the grilled steak and the veal chop, the spinach is delicious, also the roasted potatoes, the peppers, the white beans, just about everything. So much better than Mamma Gina's. We also loved Birreria Centrale.
When we did the Best of Florence (RIP) tour, our group had a wonderful meal at La Spada. Then DH and I went there after the tour for a splurge lunch. My notes don't mention what we had; just "great lunch at La Spada."
