Italy trip in January with 12-year-old child and 85 year-old-grandmother

I do need hints for a trip with a 12-year-old-boy who wants to find a nice ski place in Italy and an 85-year-old lady who likes shopping and sightseeing in January. Ski mountains for kids. Places to visit by car or by train. This will be a two-week vacation. Any comment is welcome.

Italy’s Val Gardena might be perfect, especially the town of Ortisei. Cute as can be, festive, and with amazing ski opportunities.

Pay attention that thé places (apartments or hôtels) do have à lift or at situated on the ground floor.
It is not always easy to put lifts in medieval buildings.
Also some towns might be hilly. Siena for instance might be steep for someone who is not used to it. Florence and Lucca are relatively flat.
If you go to Tuscany, take 3 or 4 days to Isola d’Elba where Napoleon spent some time. You can see his big house. You can walk, bathe, your the island with the bus, visit mines.
Take time to visit the Tarquinia Etruscan tombs. Tarquinia is North of Rome. It’s outdoor, beautiful and interesting. It is nice to see the tombs before going to the Etruscan museums.
