I am traveling in Italy now for two more weeks and plan to be in Milano before in about a week, 26 January.
Any recommendations for accomodations for 1 person would be appreciated!
I know Milano is expensive but if anyone knows a place that is between $50 USD to $80 USDs that would be wonderful! I do not know the zones or neighborhoods but I heard that Brera and around the Duomo are good and very central.

Milan is extremely convenient to get around from the main train station (Milano Centrale).
My husband and I stayed in Hotel Florida recommended in Rick's guidebook. Its a business class hotel just one block away from Milano Centrale. (The Duomo and all the sights are just a quick 10 minute ride up the metro).
The hotel was clean, had a nice full breakfast and the hotel staff was very friendly. I believe it ranges from 70-90 euro per night.
There are cheaper hotels convenient to the train station, such as http://www.thebesthotel.it/en/camere/singola/ for about 45 euros single. The hotel and breakfast are both nothing special, and not a Rick recommendation, but I found it good enough for a couple of nights.
Joanna, I have a gem for you. The Hotel Palladio at Via Palladio 8 is just what you are looking for. It is a short walk to the tram, Metro and bus stations (5-10 minutes with the tram being the closest) is in a lovely building, has friendly staff , and is in a neighborhood with loads of places to eat. You can use public transport to get anywhere from here. There is an elevator and the hotel is air conditioned and heated. The rooms are very pretty and comfortable and it looks like it should cost a lot more. The rooms have an LCD tv, a phone, a safe, and FREE wi-fi! Beds are comfy.
You get all of this from about $68- $70 USD a night. They don't offer breakfast but there are cheap cafes and a lovely bakery nearby for a wonderful cheap breakfast. You can reach them (in English) at their website- www.hotelpalladio.net/eng-index.html
