I would appreciate good suggestions for awesome hotels in Siena, Italy. Thanks.
At the suggestion of another RS poster we booked this place for 4 nights during our visit last year: http://www.laterrazzasulcampo.com/en/
Very centrally located, spacious rooms, reasonably priced, terrific breakfasts, and with balconies that overlook the Campo. It was a 12 Euro taxi ride from the train station.
We stayed at the Palazzo Ravizza in 2018 and loved it - especially the breakfast. (https://www.palazzoravizza.it/). Last year (2019) we were with friends and booked a two bedroom apartment at the Regis Condo (https://www.regiscondo.com) for far less money. Both stays were excellent and right in the heart of the town, although neither have accommodations for cars. The taxi from the train station was approximately 12 E, if I remember correctly.
Depending on where you come from, it can be better to take the bus to Siena. The bus station is right in the old part of town near the soccer facility. We came from Florence and my recollection is that the bus saved us both time and money. I can't know what is an awesome hotel in your eyes, but we really liked Alle due Porte. It was convenient to the duomo and campo, was priced right for us with a lovely included breakfast and the staff person was very kind and helpful. http://www.sienatur.it/
Awesome like high-end or awesome because they are close to the plaza and run by locals?
We loved Hotel Alma Domas as described in the Rick Steves book. We stayed three nights last October after flying into Rome and taking the bus to Siena. Very inexpensive, with a good breakfast. Wonderful walking city.
