Hotels in Rome near Termini Station

My husband and I are staying in Rome for two nights at the end of a three week trip to Italy and would like to be within walking distance of Termini station. Rick Steves has many suggestions, a few that I have read about in this forum. We are considering the Hotel Contilia, Hotel Cellini, Hotel Raffaello and Hotel Aberdeen. Our maximum price is up to 200 Euros per night. Any recommendations?

Our preference in that area is Hotel Sonya -- just across from the opera house and only a couple of blocks from Termini. A little further away is Aberdeen and equally nice. Contilla just a block away out the south-side door. It is more spartan than the other two. The breakfast is marginal compared to the other two. Wife thinks the lattes at Sonya are best. We primarily use the Contilla for our quick one night stays when passing through Rome. We have stayed in all three.

I’m staying at the Hotel Nord Nuova Roma in the fall for one night, on my way elsewhere.
It looks pretty good and is only a block or so from Termini Stazione.

Hotel Palladium Palace. We’ve stayed there two or three times and liked the hotel and its location. It’s been quite a while since we stayed there, but it still gets good reviews on TripAdvisor.

I stayed in Hotel Aberdeen in Oct 2022 at the end of a Best of Italy tour. I'm not sure if Frank has been back to Aberdeen since Covid but I found it a bit dingy and in need of a deep clean. While it appeared clean on the surface I noted layers of soap scum on the outside of the shower doors that I could rub off with a towel. I felt like they maybe just did not have enough housekeeping staff to do a good job at that time. It may have gotten back to what must have been it's former levels as it is a well-loved hotel on this forum.

I've not stayed at any of the other 3 you mention.

I am not a breakfast eater so did not check out their breakfast room.

Pam is correct. We haven't stayed anywhere since the beginning of the pandemic. We have spent over the past 30 years maybe 25, 30 days in Rome and consistently found those hotels to be very good. With the exception of Contillia have found the breakfast at both hotels to be great. BUT -- things can change quickly in a year. We like the restaurants in the area but who knows????

Thanks for all your suggestions. It looks like the Hotel Aberdeen has mixed reviews on Tripadvisor. I think I will leave the Hotel Contilia and will check out some of the other suggestions. I appreciate your advice, especially in light of the fact that there are so many choices. It is hard to decide and I want our last two nights in Italy to be great.

My husband and I are staying at Hotel Cellini for one night next month prior to our Village Italy tour. Since we are taking the train from Rome the next day, I wanted a hotel close to the Termini train station.

Most reviews for the Cellini are very positive. We got a decent rate that includes breakfast, and I'm hopeful. When are you going? you can reach out to me (send me a private message) and I'll give you my email address if you want to send me a message and ask me about the hotel. (we won't be there for another month, though, so I don't know if that's too late for you.)

We also liked Hotel Sonya, but it was back in 2019 when we stayed, so not very current. Location very convenient to the train station, though. We stayed during a RS Tour, then extended our stay afterward. Reasonable rate at that time.

Thanks again. I have narrowed it down to the hotel Sonya or Cellini. The Cellini is significantly more in terms of price. Will see if they offer a Rick Steves rate that is better than the online rate or perhaps simply pay more.

We stayed at Best Western Plus Hotle Universo in December, three months ago. It was fine and had a huge breakfast buffet. It's a block from Termini.

I will be staying overnight in Rome in April prior to the Tuscany tour, so I chose Hotel Le Petit near the station. It received good reviews on Booking.

We stayed at the Leonardo Boutique Hotel Termini. Quick walk to the station. We stayed in the least expensive room, which was quite compact, but it was only for 1 night, so served its purpose as it was clean & comfy & a small breakfast was provided.
