Hotels in Rome

My husband and I will be in Rome for four days in late March. I 'm considering Hotel de Petris and Downtown Accommodation as places to stay. Any opinions on these places, or others? Haven't been to Rome in 30 (gulp) years and don't really know the best areas to stay in.

The location is good. There is a narrow lift which helps 1 person and 1 luggage up and down. Request a renovated room with a balcony. They are small but a good value for this location. Wifi best in lobby area. Hotel can arrange airport/train transfers for you.

You're right near Trevi, Spainish Steps, Barberini Place, Via Condotti, National Gallery, The Quirinale and Gardens. Pantheon will be about a 15 minute walk. The Quirinale has daily changing of Guard ceremony.
They have a new roof top terrace/room for breakfast. Breakfast is an additional charge. There are many places nearby for breakfast, too, along with shopping and restaurants. White's is close by with good food and free internet.

Do you have a theme to this visit or certain areas of Rome that are must sees? May I suggest you look at the walking tours offered by Context Rome company?
We'll be there this May after 15 years. We decided to stay near the Pantheon to be close to things we never saw or only saw from the window of a taxi cab.

Diane, which hotel/area are you talking about? De Petris or Downtown Accommodation? This will be my husband's first trip
and my first in 30 years. All we have planned is a guided tour for the Vatican and the Colosseum, and our son in Florence has recommended a trip to the Etruscan Necropolis. I guess we're trying to decide if we want to stay in walking distance of main
sites or someplace quieter with transportation to sites and good restaurants around hotel.

You probably should delete your question here which is under the Italy Review section and post it under the Italy subsection under Destination Q & A section. Obviously Q&A is the section for questions and answers. You would get more and better responses since this section here is for posting reviews and not for recommendations. There is also a lot of discussion about Rome hotels which is a frequent question in the Italy section of Q&A.
