hotels in Palermo and Taormina

Could anyone give me the names of good hotels in these 2 cities? We are planning a trip for 4 days in late Sept.
We would like a good view if possible, and good location.

Also does anyone knows a good private guide or small group tour of MT Etna and a winery?

Henry, you would get a better response if you asked these questions on the "Italy" Forum. This is actually the "Italy Reviews" Forum, where people offer reviews of hotels, restaurants, etc. that they have already experienced. You might look through the past entries into this "Italy Reviews" Forum, as maybe people have reported on just the things you are asking about. Good luck, and Sicily is wonderful!

It would be gd to give the forum your budget for lodging.

We love the Ambasciatori in Palermo. It's within walking distance of the train station, which is where the airport bus drops you off. The staff is great, the rooms are fine - not luxurious, but clean and comfortable, and the rooftop terrace is my favorite breakfast place in Europe.

Henry,

We stayed at the Eurostars Monte Tauro in Taormina in 2014. Phenomenal view of the sea, gorgeous pool, & short walking distance to sites, restaurants, etc. The BEST breakfast buffet we had in Sicily! We loved Sicily.

Here’s another shout out for the Ambasciatori in Palermo. In Taormina we stayed at the Hotel Continental. Great rooms, helpful and friendly staff, great views of the sea and Mt. Etna from the hotel terrace. Also quiet and the main walking street and restaurants are out the back door, and through the garden.

We stayed at the Continental in Taormina, and according to my notes, we liked it. "Terrace, garden room, comfy places in halls."

We spent a month in Sicily last April/May.....fabulous places everywhere!! In Palermo we stayed at Palazzo Pantaleo. Great location, and nice rooms and breakfast...would stay there again. Also did a StReat Palermo tour....very fun, with introduction to Sicilian street food and a delightful guide. I highly recommend it. In Taormina, we stayed at Villa Sara......incredible, breathtaking views from the terrace off our room, lovely landlady, beautiful rooms...only downside is that it was a very steep walk up from town.
BUT the amazing panoramic views were so worth it!! We did a private tour (just the 4 of us) of Mt Etna and the Gambino winery with Sicily Life and Antonio as our guide. This was an incredible experience....best winery ever, and we used to go to Napa/Sonoma wineries frequently!! Antonio was great, tour was great. You won't be disappointed with any of it!!! Sicily is a most wonderful area....we hope to return soon!!!! Enjoy every amazing moment!!

Thanks Henry for asking about hotels in Palermo.
We are going on the RS tour in April. Our tour group is staying at the Ambasciatori but we are arriving early and could not get rooms. Based on the recommendation on this post, I have booked the Palazzo Pantaleo for the 3 nights before our tour begins. Thanks and have fun!
