I am planning a 6-day trip to Florence in MId-May. I would like some recommendations on hotels. I prefer not to stay in crowded area. My price range would be around $300.
Any recommendations on one-day side trip from Florence would be appreciated.
Thanks
On the Best of Tuscany, we stayed at the Cellai Hotel, Via 27 Aprile 14, 52r. Non-touristy neighborhood, wonderful room, great breakfast. Easy to walk anyplace in the city. If you get tired of pasta, try Sushiland across the street from the hotel. Excellent poke bowls, reasonable prices, private outdoor garden.
A lot of day trips to choose from: Pisa, Sienna, Lucca, San Gimignano. You could easily combine Pisa and Lucca in one day.
Hotel Accademia on Via Faenza in the San Lorenzo district if available for your dates might fit the bill nicely. Wonderfully run, RS listed, nice colazione. Location is near Santa Maria Novella train station so jumping on a train to take day trip to Pisa (~ 1.5 hr 1-way) is simple and easy. To go to Siena which is another fine day trip from Florence, you'd take the 131R bus from the nearby AT terminal on Via Santa Caterina da Siena (also ~1.5 hr 1-way, barring any road stoppages that could occur). For ease of train ticket transactions I'd add Trenitalia app to your phone. I simply walked 5 min to the bus station day before to purchase my tickets and confirm where the boarding was.
Appreciate your recommendations.
