Hotels for Venice in April

I am traveling to Venice for two nights in April with my husband and son.
We would like to get accommodations that will fit us in one room but also give us the most for our short time.
My short list is as follows:

Can anyone give feedback on these?

Bauer Palazzo,
Antico Dodge,
Splendid,
Cina Senturion,

Also we are planning on doing a Row Venice our first night there -our son's choice.
On our second day:
Would you recommend the boat trip to Murano, Burano, Torcello?
We have a morning walking tour with doges palace scheduled.

You have posted in the area where posters put reviews of hotels they have stayed in.
Go to Travel Forum above and click on Italy. Put your question there for more responses.
Burano and Torcello are much nicer islands to visit rather than over touristed Murano. Take a vaporetto over there and back.

Does it have to be a hotel? We stayed in the Valentine suite at this B&B: https://residenzadelosmarin.com/rooms/valentine-suite-2/ It would be a great option for a small family, as there is a second, very low-ceilinged bedroom, which is described as being in the attic, but is really just a step-up from the rest of the suite. Right now, due to Covid, breakfasts aren't being offered, but there are some breakfast items supplied, and there is a kitchenette, so breakfasts are easy.

Murano/Burano/Torcello would take up just about an entire day, I think. That's going to leave you with very little time to see Venice aside from the area covered by your walking tour--which is likely to concentrate on the tourist-swamped area around Piazza San Marco. I'd want time to see less touristy parts of the city.

With limited time I would concentrate “off the beaten path” type of walk. This avoids the crowds. We used this resource during a weeks stay. https://www.amazon.com/Frommers-24-Great-Walks-Venice/dp/0470453702
We visited Burano & Torcello on one of our days. That said we really enjoyed taking the Vaporetto to San Giorgio Maggiore and getting a magnificent panoramic view of Venice! We simply took the elevator to the top of the bell tower. In addition is the amazing Basilica de San Giorgio Maggiore. It is one of the most photographed images of Venice. If you are by Doges Palace & Piazza di San Marco at sunset you can look over to San Giorgio glimmering in the setting sunset. The best of both worlds!

I’m with acraven. I’ve been to Venice several times, never visited any of the islands because I never felt I had enough time as it was to really be in Venice. Wandering all over Venice itself takes time and is enchanting. Why rush off to see another island when Venice itself is amazing is my thinking.

Can’t help with your hotel list, sorry, but just chiming in to say I hope you have a wonderful time with RowVenice! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them earlier this year. A real highlight of our visit.

We had a great experience with Row Venice. Glad they survived covid shut downs.

To save time take the vaporetto to the outer islands as late in the day as you can. Compute the time by finding out the latest time the “bus” leaves Burano. I think that is the farthest point. We did island hopping from Murano, the closest island then moved farther out. We were not shoppers so each stop was a walk around. Compute the time needed by working backwards from the last vaporetto time. Doing the day trip this way gave us max time in Venice. As I remember, the first stop coming back to Venice had us walking through the neighborhoods on the northern side. It was late afternoon. Get a multi day vaporetto pass so you can hop on hop off at will. Enjoyed this break from the narrow walks in Venice to see the water. Our favorite was the colorful houses in Burano. Take advantage of night walks to explore Venice.

Where you stay could be based on how early you leave the last morning. The later your departure the farther from the train station you can comfortably stay. A quiet room makes for better sleep.

We took the vaporetto out to Murano on a very wet afternoon. Although they look very silly, we bought and wore the bright neon plastic bubble knee-high boots for 10 euros. Our feet (and only pairs of shoes) remained dry and we were happy sloshing around. Because it was so wet, there weren't many tours. We didn't see a glass demonstration but did see the showrooms and went to different shops. We just kept walking out into a neighborhood which was interesting and beautiful as the rain cleared. After a late lunch and some serious earring shopping, we got back near the dock about the time they were feeding the feral cats. Chilled and tired, we didn't stop at any other islands but it was a lovely day.

A big thank you to cindyvitere! I have never traveled internationally before but am looking forward to our first trip to Italy, starting in Venice next April. I had never heard of Row Venice until I read your post. After looking at their website and learning more about them I am very excited to check this unique experience out.
