Hotel Smeraldo and Airport Pickup

We have aranged airport pickup through Hotel Smeraldo. We have the instructions needed and all appears to be pretty straight forward. Has anyone used Hotel Smeraldo for their FCO airport pick up service to the hotel? And if you have, do you have comments and.or recommendations?

We are aware there are less espensesive options from the FCO airport to Rome Center.

YES, and it was great. Take the number for the hotel and have international calling on your phone, in case there's a problem. When you exit after luggage area, you will see a bunch of drivers waiting. Hotel Smeraldo requested we pay CASH to the driver, who was
AMAZING. He took us through some back roads I'd never seen in literally dozens of trips to the airport, as it was a holiday, stopped for us to take pictures overlooking the Vatican...

And you're in for a treat, the hotel is great, but highly recommend a 'superior room' facing internal courtyard, much quieter than street-facing. Bon Viaggio!

Make sure you let them know which Arrival Terminal you will be coming out of, there are two. That was our only hiccup.

We are staying therein October this year. I’ve scheduled welcome pickups for $77. I like the idea of using the hotels driver. I’ll contact smeraldo people.
We are coming from US west coast via London and will be tired. Could do the airport train to termini and short cab ride but it’ll be evening and I’d rather not.

Here is the information that Hotel Smeraldo reuired for pickup:

Contact them 30 days before arrival
Depature Airport
Airline Name and flight number
Arrival Airport into Rome, Arrival Time plus # of people
Cell phone number with country code
Cost is 75 euros

We though the same thing about getting off of a long flight and not having to deal with multiple transportation means to get to the hotel. Easy peasy!

Hotel Smeraldo is fantastic and whatever they are recommending can be trusted.

We are now booked for a driver through Cesare at Hotel Smeraldo. Cost was E90 in cash paid to driver, E15 more because arrving later in the evening.

Every pre trip contact with this hotel has been easy and friendly. We are there three nights pre-tour, upgraded to "superior" room to have a bit more room and keep that room for the two tour nights. Upgrade for those two nights was reasonable. Getting very excited to see Rome and again South Italy where neither of us has been.

SusannePNW glad you have your reservation for the hotel pickup. We are there for 3 nights before our cruise on Viking next month in August! Very excitied! We are in the Comfort room as it faces inward and is suppose to be very quiet. Either way, I know we both with have a great experience with them! Happy travels!

We stayed at Hotel Smeraldo in 2024 and love, love, love this hotel! We did not pre-book an airport pickup from FCO. Instead, we went to the airport taxi stand and got a taxi at the pre-set rate which took us directly to the hotel. I believe it was 50 Euros total for the two of us, and we could pay by credit card. It was much cheaper than pre-booking a car would have been, and the taxi line was very short. When we left Rome, we had an early morning flight, and the hotel suggested they book the taxi service for us in advance since it was so early, which we did. If street noise bothers you, I agree with the suggestion to book an interior courtyard room.

They are sold out of those interior rooms. Ear plugs for us!
I’m OK with paying more for a driver. A bit cautious from terrible taxi ride from Florence airport years ago. The driver was from the official stand but was very scary. Almost hit a pedestrian on the sidewalk!
