Hello!
Any one have trouble getting a reservation at the one of these hotels?
I've been trying for 2 weeks to get a reservation via the website and direct email from these two hotels and have not gotten any reply except a general "we got your request and will get back with you soon" email. They look so perfect for my sister and I to stay. We are going in September (9th - 11th) mainly to hike and enjoy the scenery. The half board seemed like such a treat really. Maybe I need to make a call to them?
Hotel Piccolo seems to have rooms...has anyone stayed there?
I have found an apartment in ADS even closer to the Cable car but it seems so modern. Also a nice little home that looks to be one just off the main road coming into ADS (via s valentino). I'm guessing the drive up from there to be only about 5 - 10 mins?
Grazie or Danke,
Melany
I actually have another question, sorry! I just found a really lovely looking place called Jaggl Schwaige. Has anyone stayed there? Thanks, Melany
It is interesting that neither Seelaus nor Schmung has an availability chart you can check, just the online request form.
In general, when a small hotel does not respond to an inquiry, it means they are full. But there is no way to know for sure u less you call them, since they have not answered emails.
I stayed at Seelaus with a friend years ago, in 2000. The reservation process was very simple then, but I did reserve well in advance. I believe the whole area has become much more popular, so it is quite likely they are full. You are trying for reservations quite late, I am afraid.
I have been attracted to Pension Schmung for a return visit, but have been put off by their requirement for a direct deposit (wireless transfer) into their bank account. They do not take credit cards, at least for the deposit. It is not that I do not trust them, but our credit union does not do international money transfers, so I would have to find another way. I believe there are now internet services that do this, but I have not looked into those.
just be prepared for this if you do get a positive response from Pension Schmung.
I just used TripAdvisor to check availability ( and of course you can then book directly with the hotel). In addition to Piccolo, there is availability in double rooms at Tirler, Hotel Saltria ( at the far end of Alpe di Siusi), Urthaler, and Sporthotel Floralpina.
This does it include places that do not list their property with third-party booking services. Another place I would check is Berghotel Zorzi but they have a simple request form like the two hotels you have contacted, and may also be full.
My RS tour is staying at Hotel Seel aus later in September. They may be full with tour goers.
Thank you everyone for your helpful replies! I did end up just making the calls - enjoyed talking with Roberto at Hotel Seelaus and Helga at Schmung. There is a rooftop room available - no balcony....Mansarde. She said it was for 2 with a bed that is 1 1/2. :) The picture also looks like the bed is a very thin mattress on a board frame, slanted roof and a window. Looks very neat and clean, tho. comments?
*****Could we eat dinner at the hotels (like Schmung or Seelaus) even if we are not staying there and just pay for the meal? There are some small apartments up the hill a bit.
