Hotel recommendations in Florence

Hello!

Would love a few recommendations for our mid-November stay in Florence. We will be in the city for ~5d and would love something with a homey feel and good location.

Thanks so much,
Patrick

As a courtesy I have posted a few recommendations from our new Florence and Tuscany 2015 Guidebook:

[$$] Residenza dei Pucci rents 13 pleasant rooms (each one different) spread over three floors. The decor, a mix of soothing earth tones and aristocratic furniture, makes this place feel upscale for this price range (Sb-€135, Db-€150, Tb-€170, Qb suite-€238, 10 percent discount with this book if you pay cash, air-con, no elevator, Wi-Fi, reception open 9:00-20:00, shorter hours off-season--let them know if you’ll arrive late, Via dei Pucci 9, tel. 055-281-886, www.residenzadeipucci.com, info@residenzadeipucci.com, friendly Mirella and Marina).

[$$] Soggiorno Battistero rents seven simple, airy rooms, most with great views, overlooking the Baptistery and the Duomo square. Request a view or a quieter room in the back when you book, but keep in mind there’s always some noise in the city center. It’s a pristine and minimalist place run by Italian Luca and his American wife Kelly, who makes the hotel particularly welcoming (Sb-€83, Db-€110, Tb-€145, Qb-€155, 5 percent discount if you book directly with the hotel and pay cash, breakfast served in room, air-con available June-Aug, elevator, Wi-Fi, Piazza San Giovanni 1, third floor, tel. 055-295-143, www.soggiornobattistero.it, info@soggiornobattistero.it).

Buona Fortuna!

We recently stayed at Borgi Pinto Convent booked through Monastery Stays and loved it. Not a hotel but has a homey feel. Beautiful building with a stunning inner courtyard garden, friendly sisters, clean, quiet and well located. Not alot of english spoken, a curfew and limited wifi if those things matter to you. For us these were minor inconveniences given the other qualities of the accomodation.

Loved Hotel Pendini last January. We got a room thru Booking.com for about 1/2 of regular price due to off-season timing. Homey rooms, very large, great breakfast buffet and most important, strong WIFI.

We recently returned from a trip where we stayed 5 nights at The DeiMori B&B- fabulous location in Florence. We loved every minute of it. Had room with bath, 2 big windows, clean, charming with flowers. Daniel and Rosanna were amazing hosts. Fresh baked breads every morning with delicious coffee, juice, yogurt, fruit, etc. The hospitality and helpfulness were unmatched. Very homey, beautiful music, friendly. Daniel's generous recommendations and directions for places to see, restaurants, things to do were spot on. Made
our trip that much more enjoyable. And we had the best gelatto just a stone's throw away! We would happily stay there again in a heartbeat.

We have stayed twice at the Hotel dei Macchiaiolli (hotel website), in March 2011 and May 2014. Conveniently located near the Academia and a 10-minute walk to the Duomo, the hotel was reasonably priced, clean, quiet, comfortable, served an excellent breakfast, and had a very friendly and very helpful staff. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel, which is located on the second floor of a palace and has several public rooms (including the breakfast room) with frescoed ceilings; it is listed in Rick's Florence and Tuscany book.
