what are your dates, budget in euros, how many people, any restrictions as in stairs/steps/lifts, A/C you will need in summer months with crowds and heat, areas you're looking at will be busy, travel by train or will you have a car to drive, need more info to help you.

Just do a Search here under those areas, and review the posted Trip Reports.

Have you found available lodging thru booking.com, per the earlier advice?

Perhaps my Trip Report will help with hotels in Venice and Sorrento.

Good luck!

-preferably no steps since I have knee issues-

Avoiding steps/hills in the 'Amalfi Sorrento area', will akin to avoiding sand in the Sahara

Venice is flat, but there are a lot of bridges ( with steps) that one has to cross to get from point to point.

Rome is famous for its 7 hills. Are hills any better than steps?

Not meaning to 'rain on your parade', but do be prepared for what awaits you at your chosen destinations.

If your trip is for THIS July, then I would strongly suggest you immediately start a search on one of the booking sites (such as booking.com) to see what is even available at this late date. My guess is that it will be slim pickings. If you do find a place that looks interesting, then contact them and try to book directly rather than on the third party site. As to specific hotels, our stay at Hotel Principe in Florence was not great. The room was dated, and the air conditioning was not efficient to the point that it was nearly impossible to sleep.

This July? You are very late at booking hotels for Italy in the Summer. The most convenient and best hotels will be booked 6-10mo in advance.

You posted this in the REVIEW section - this is a place for YOU TO GIVE US A REVIEW OF SOMEPLACE.

Repost it in the Destination - Italy section. Also, use the SEARCH bar to search for these answers. The Rick Steves GuideBooks will also have suggestions, but if you are looking for a month from now - your choices are going to be slim.

There will be LOTS of hills and stairs in Italy - it's unavoidable -- esp in Sorrento/Amalfi. You are going during a very HOT and busy time.

For Venice - we love a B&B called Campiello Zen (but there are steps) and we like a hotel called Al Ponte Antico.
For Florence - we love Hotel Bernini Palace.
Tons of options for Rome - depends on what you want to be close to.

Sorrento - if you want to be on the water or with a view of the water, I bet it's too late if you are looking for July 2023.
We like a B&B in Sorrento called Villa Monica B&B. There is a hotel that is convenient to town, but not on the water called Antiche Mura.

The Rick Steves Italy guide book has hotel recommendations for all of those places plus restaurants. I have found the hotels to be adequate for most of my trips.
