Hotel Portoghesi in Rome

It's about a 5 km taxi ride from Roma Termini station.

Can we take a bus from the strain station?too far to walk with luggage... Cost of a taxi? Does anyone have info about staying at this hotel?

Oh lord we love that place. We stayed there on our first trip to Rome about 8 years ago, when it was in no guidebooks and again 18 months ago when we returned to Rome. The location is just wonderful, very convenient and an easy 5 minute walk to the Pantheon, less as I recall to Piazza Navona. he staff are wonderful, the rooms are terrific (a deluxe gives great space and a standard is, duh, pretty standard.) The rooftop terrace is pretty amazing. Breakfast is served there every morning and if you ask nicely at the desk, the will open it for you to enjoy wine before dinner or after dinner or even dinner if you bring it up there with you .Go there, you can not do better for the price.

Also this, you are really really close to the Hotel Raphael and no matter what else happens or how little money you want to spend, go to their rooftop terrace for an afternoon drink, play the game called "name the Domes" while looking over the 360' panorama of Rome. DO THIS, thank me later.
