Hotel Portoghesi

We stayed at the Portoghesi the last 4 nights of our trip. It is located down one of the tiny winding streets, very near the Pantheon. We had no problems with the location. We walked all over old Rome from there. We did not use public transportation at all except for our day trip. I registered 13.06 miles on the Fitbit one day. I found the hotel extremely clean. The rooms and shower are typical for Europe.... pretty small ( at least, ours was) Front desk staff helpful and over all, pleasant, especially, the evening shift. The breakfast was in a darling, rooftop sun room with plenty of choices to start your day. The choices were mostly Continental style, with cheeses and a few meats, breads, pastry, juices, and boiled eggs and yogurt. The only thing I need to give heads up on is the bed a pillows.. If you love a firm bed and pillow, this is the place for you. I can quite honestly say ,the mattress was almost as firm as a box spring.. I do realize mattresses are a personal preference, so it could be fine for others. For me , I barely slept. Other than the bed , the place was fine.

I always liked that neighborhood. When we live in Pariol we walked through there almost every Saturday on our way to Campo de' Fiori. We liked little Bar Portoghesi and the church there has a magnificent organ.

I like that hotel for its convenience...and I felt exactly the same about the bed!
