We stayed there for one night in September 2023. We were quite pleased with it and walked to the hotel in about 10 minutes, with luggage, from Roma Termini.
I would call it an old style Italian hotel, which we like. The rooms were clean and the a/c worked great.
I am not sure what you mean by “downtown.” However, it is easy walking distance to Roma Termini which between trains, subway, buses, nearby trams and taxi queue (and we have used all of them), you can easily get where you would like to go.
If you decide to stay there, the hotel is on (I think), the 3rd floor. You walk into the building, up a few steps, then down a corridor, and there is an old, open metal cage, elevator. With luggage, we could only fit one person at a time; without luggage we could both fit in it, but would typically just take the stairs.
We made reservations directly with the hotel and the communicated with us via WhatsApp.
