Nice hotel. Old, authentic, charming, etc. Saw it on Rick's Florence piece and made a point of staying there.
Only caution: it's next door to a soup kitchen (or the Florentine equivalent) and the square in front of the hotel is dicey, particularly in the evening. Nothing dangerous, but you'll likely see things you didn't travel to Italy to see.
If that sort of thing bothers you, I wouldn't stay at this hotel. There's not much management can do about it. It is what it is.
I work downtown Seattle, where the homeless problem is getting worse, so I'm a bit used to it. However, even I had my moments, and my kids certainly got an eye-full, particularly when we were checking out.
