Hotel in Verona

I am looking for a hotel in Verona in late August for 2 nights. Will be arriving there by train after an overnight flight into Milan. Any suggestions?

You're more likely to get useful responses if you provide a nightly hotel budget in euros and tell us how many people you need to house.

In this case your specific dates are important. There's an opera festival in Verona from mid-June until early September. On opera nights, hotel rates go especially high. Here's the calendar: https://www.arena.it/en/arena-verona-opera-festival/calendar/

It's corny and it was 31 years ago, but we stayed at the Giulietta E Romeo: https://www.giuliettaeromeo.it/en/. It's in central Vereno and it was comfortable and quiet. It was either the ghost of Shakespeare or a real person (probably the latter), but I heard someone typing on a typewriter during the night.

I like Hotel Bologna in Verona. It’s a handy location just off Piazza Bra where the Roman Arena is located.

Stayed at Hotel Torcolo several years ago and were well pleased. Small place, fairly inexpensive, and a great location. Nothing fancy, but would stay there again. Google it and see if it meets your needs.

We stayed there a mere 10 years ago, and really liked it. It's currently the No. 1 traveler-ranked Verona hotel on Trip Advisor - they must still be doing something right!

In May of 2023 we stayed in the Hotel Accademia and loved it. The hotel was very nice and the location was great for walking to things.

I stayed at Hotel Giulietta e Romeo in 2023 and also recommend it. Very centric. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Elevator. Friends stayed at Hotel Europa very near the Portoni della Bra at the entrance to the Piazza Bra. They liked it very much.

We just got back from Verona. I would recommend staying in the city center or Veronetta. The city center has the old Medieval vibe, but hotels are more pricey. Veronetta is still within walking distance to everything but less expensive.

You can also stay at Porta Nuova one night and transfer to the center or Veronetta the next day. Although I would stay at the same hotel because even the ones near the train station are within walking distance to all the sights.

The hotel will depend on your budget, but I liked Truly Verona.

There's a good list of hotels per area here: https://veronacard.info/where-to-stay-in-verona/
