Arriving a few days ahead of our Sept 24th tour but don't have any information yet as to what hotel we will be staying at the first night in Rome. So my question is how and where do I book a hotel that would be near the start of our tour?

Ditto. Then if you want to definitely pre stay there, immediately contact the hotel to reserve your pre stay room.

Thanks. I will do that. I sent them an email a few weeks ago to this question but never heard back. So a phone call it will be.

I agree with all of the previous posters. Call them ASAP - I've been on 10 tours and have always received the first and last hotel info upon registering.

Really! How wonderful! Do you know where this hotel is located? Is it in Rome proper and near the train station? Do you have a phone number or email address for this Hotel. Or I suppose I could look it up online. Are you arriving early also?

Hotel Smeraldo is a short walk from Campo de Fiore and Largo Argentina. It's a great location and hotel. You can walk to almost every site in the Centro Storico of Rome. We really enjoyed our stay there. It's a short taxi ride from Termini.

I called the office and they were so accommodating to me. They emailed me the names of the hotel in Rome and the one in Naples. I am looking fwd to my southern Italy tour with Rick Steves!
