Hotel in Rome close to train station

Hi everyone,
We are staying a night or 2 in Rome at the end of our trip and want it to be convenient to getting the train (taxi? Still don't have that figured out yet) to the airport. We just want to relax and enjoy our last day or 2 after a 3 week trip. Would love some suggestions.

A taxi from anywhere in the historic center to FCO is a flat rate of 50 euro and they are easy to get at the numerous taxi stands. The Leonardo Express train will be around 15 euro per person so depending on the number of people could be somewhat cheaper if you are staying within walking distance of the Termini station. But I wouldn't choose a hotel for that reason only. It's not hard to get to the airport.

Whenever I had to get to Rome's airport my hotel always arranged a car to pick me up and take me.....even if I was leaving very early in the morning which happens alot in Rome, especially if you are transferring to another airport in Europe for the flight home.

We stayed at IQ Roma Hotel in Rome and it is fairly close to the train station. It's a great hotel. I would definitely stay there again on a return trip to Rome. Have a great trip.

Our preferred hotel in Rome is Hotel Sonya -- about two, three blocks from Termini across from the Opera House if looking on a map. Hotel Aberdeen is another good choice about five blocks away. And we have often used Hotel Contilla out the south door of Termini and about a block away when passing through Rome for a night. It is plain Jane but works well.

Hotel Sileo is really close to the train station and in the RS guidebook. We have stayed here several times and keep going back.

Another vote for Hotel Sonya. Very close to train station/Metro. Good breakfast, clean and comfortable.

We stayed at Hotel Cellini, about a 10-minute walk to the train station and walkable to the forum and many other central historic sites.

We stayed at Hotel Sonya for one night in April. It's about a 10 minute walk from the train station. It was good enough, but I wouldn't want to stay a full week there. The shower was about the size you get on a cruise ship with barely enough room to turn around.

The hotel did give us an 8% discount for paying cash.

How far away is Rome airport to hotels? Would train be necessary to take to airport?

Scmonsoon, you are hijacking another poster's question. Not considered good manners! Not sure what you are asking. How far depends on where you want to go. Rome is spread over a lot of ground. The train to the airport is just over 30 minutes so probably around 20 miles or so. Taxis and shuttles are about the same, maybe a little less but very dependent on traffic.

Without mentioning that Rome has two airports Ciampino and Fiumicino.

FCO (aka Fiumicino) is served by two trains. The cheap FL1 calls at Roma Tiburtina and Roma Trastevere stations on the way to the airport. Then there is the Leonardo Express, that's more expensive, makes no intermediate stops and departs every 30 minutes or so from Roma Termini.
