Hotel in Roma for 1 night in April 2025

We're joining a Rick Steves tour of Southern Italy that starts in Rome at Hotel Smeraldo April 7. Unfortunately that hotel is booked up night before. Rick Steve's guides suggested Convent of St. Brigid, but that's booked too as well as their other recs. Looking for place near Campo dei Fiori. Any recommendations?

I'm guessing that all the recommended places are going to be full by now, unfortunately.

Looks like Hotel Aberdeen may have a vacancy. It is used by Rick's tours & I've stayed there a couple times. Not fancy, but good breakfast and nice basic room. I haven't been there for a few years and hope it is still a good place to stay. I always found them very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at Hotel Lancelot which was recommended by Rick Steves. His tour groups stay there, and the taxi driver that we arranged with Hotel Lancelot from the airport is a RS guide. He gave us a tour on the way from the airport and was delightful. The HL is lovely and breakfast is included. It is very close to the Colosseum and @ a 15-minute taxi ride from Campo dei Fiori.

Can you ask Hotel Smeraldo to alert you if there are any cancelations?

We like the Aberdeen, and it's close to the train station.

It's also in long walkable distance to the Smeraldo, if you don't have lots of luggage.

I've stayed at the Hotel Sole Roma and really loved it. It's been awhile but it still looks really nice and is in a wonderful location right off the Campo dei Fiori. https://www.hotelsoleroma.it/en/ I don't know what the prices are now, but when I was there, they were reasonable.

Hotel Lancelot is great. It’s not hard to get from HL to HS. We did it last September. There’s something special about staying close to the Colosseum and walking around that area at night. Plenty of good places to eat and a lovely gelato shop about a block from HL.

hey hey Pam
i agree with LIZinPA, check with booking.com or trivago.com
click on map, see what's available and fits your budget, any mobility issues. remember that check-in is 2-4pm and check-out is 10-11am. drop off luggage with hotel and roam around or ask if early check-in available.
see something you like and near hotel smeraldo book it. it will be very busy with jubilee 2025 and expecting millions of people for this pilgrimage. good luck and have a great time
