Hotel Desiree vs Hotel Il Nido In Sorrento

Thoughts on the convenience and benefits of one verses the other? Also, with the Il Nido shuttle lacking times in the middle of the day, is that a problem, and how hard is it to get from Il Nido to Downtown when the shuttle isn’t running? Is there a bus nearby?

I have not been to Hotel Desiree, so cannot offer a comparison.

Did stay at Il Nido and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had no problem with the shuttle bus schedule so not aware what the other options might be to get to/from town other than a taxi.

The magnificent view and wonderful breakfast make it easy to recommend Il Nido.

We’ve stayed at the hotel next to the Desiree several times, it’s a very easy and beautiful walk into town and back. There’s a city bus if you’re too tired to walk the 10 min back uphill that stops very close to the hotel. Bus is easy to get in town and comes very frequently.
The Desiree shares a private nice beach w the hotel next door where we’ve stayed.

Haven’t stayed at either but I have many friends who love the Il Nido.

I'm not sure where you're seeing that info as the hotel states that they have a shuttle that runs every hour? Granted, they do not say what time of the morning service starts and when it ends but recent reviews (last fall: looks like they close during low season) don't indicate any issues with midday shuttles.

We chose Hotel Il Nido Sorrento and absolutely loved it! The owner was so helpful and the views from our room and the balcony at breakfast and dinner were spectacular! The food was great and reasonable, and we were given an upgrade to our room without asking! The proprietor was very helpful to call us a taxi, which saved us money than if we called. He is very helpful with tour information, too! We would definitely go back there! Thank you all for your helpful input!
