Hotel de Capitani in Montalcino

Has anyone stayed here? What is your opinion of the hotel? What do you think of staying in Montalcino versus other towns when visiting Cinque Terra?

We love this place and Montalcino. Have 10 of us staying there in October. Nothing fancy but great location. Get a valley view room. Easy to drive to. Parking available.
It is Not near Cinque Terre. Southern Tuscany is, in our opinion, much more beautiful and fun that the tourist madhouse known as Cinque Terre.

We stayed in Montalcino In june 2014 at La Crociona, an agriturismo (working vineyard and hotel) recommended in one of Rick Steve's books. We absolutely loved it, friendly, kind staff, we had our own "stand alone" stone villa. Reasonable price and gorgeous location. You need to have a car though if you are going to get around the Montalcino area.

Debbie, You do realize that Montalcino isn't in the Cinque Terre, right? Do you actually mean Monterosso al Mare rather than Montalcino?
