Have you ever had a Buon Ricordo meal in Italy? Did you get a commemorative plate and was it worth it? I'll be in Padova in September and also Lucca and Orvieto. Is it more hype than anything or a fun thing? Thanks,

For me, this is a fun thing and I have collected about a dozen plates, some earned by my parents. I hope to get more this year, since I'm returning to Italy. The Buon Ricordo associated restaurants have always been quality places, with good meals, but not cheap. You usually must order the one identified signature dish, which also won't be the cheapest thing on the menu. You may need to remind them to give you the plate. The plates are colorful and hand decorated, but don't expect the fine quality of Deruta ceramics. I have not yet found how to see the plate designs on their mobile app, but you can see them on the regular web site. Note that any city listed in parentheses is just a nearby city. For instance, this one is in Padova and this one is near Padova.
