Has anyone done A cicchetti (or cichetti) crawl though Venice, nibbling on snacks and enjoying

We are going on the Village Italy (Aug 31st) ) tour and spending a two days in Venice first. Has anyone done one of these tours ?A cicchetti (or cichetti) crawl though Venice, nibbling on snacks and enjoying ombra glasses of wine it sounds kind of fun and different. RS gave it the thumbs up.
If so which one do you recommend ?
Thanks

I have not done a tour but had the most splendid drink standing by the canal. I cannot recall the exact name of the bar, but it is near the large bridge over the canal, near the fish market. The tiny bar is about 20 steps or so from the canal but faces away from it; as there is little or no seats, most stand around and drink. There was no problem to stroll to the canal and look onto the bridge and watch the water bus and people watch. That is a lasting memory for me. How civilized to be able to carry the glass of prosecco around! There was a place to return the empty flass near the entrance of the bar.

We did the tour by Allesandro in Venice. I thought it was a lot of fun. I think Rick's book recommends him. I think we emailed him and he got back to us with the dates he was available.

My husband and I have taken Alessandro's fun and informative cicchetti tour. I'm returning to Venice in June with family. Daughter and son-in-law have contacted Alessandro by email and were told they are currently the only ones on that date for the tour. He will let them know as soon as at least two others sign up for the same date, as at least four persons are required for the tour to be a "go". I highly recommend you go with him. It was one of the highlights of our previous visit.

I make a round of the various bacari - the places these tiny munchies are found - whenever I am in Venice.

Quite a few places are listed in the RS book, and your hotel can point you to good ones nearby.

I've never taken an organised tour because I am pretty good at asking what is in the individual dishes (most staff are decent at describing in English) and pointing without help.

It seems like I passed more of these bars recently without planning than I recall in the past - such as one on the canal near Campo San Barnaba and one on the canal near the Accademia museum, like June describes, with people spilling onto the footpath.

One of the ones you may mean, Laura, is the Gli Scavioni (sp? away from home) across the little rio from the Dorsoduro Squero - where the gondolas are made and repaired under the Austrian geraniums.

My favourite - bar none - and not a table in sight. Yummmmmmm

We used a local company called Venice Urban Adventures (you can find them on Yelp) and had a blast! It was our first trip to Venice in 2012 and it really gave us the confidence to visit local bars ourselves on subsequent trips. The group you go with can add or detract from the experience I guess, but we had a great group of foodies from around the world. Now not much of the food was that good (it is Venice, after all!), but it was fun to learn about all the special goodies locals eat.

We highly recommend Alessandro's tour.
We didn't love the food but the wine & conversation with Alessandro & others from around the world priceless! Just email him & he gets right back to you. Info in RS guide. We took the tour in June .

We are signed up to go on both the bar pub crawl and the back streets or something. It's our only schedule thing to do in Venice..
I better get with it.

We did the tour with Alessandro recommended in the RS book last Wednesday and enjoyed it. He's a good host, and the three places were very pleasant, as were the chicchetti. Just about enough for dinner if you're not a big eater or have had a large lunch.
