Hairdryer needed?

We are taking the "Heart of Italy Tour in 9 Days." I have to have a blow dryer but want to know if the hotels in which we stay will provide one. I have tried looking it up on each hotels website but find nothing mentioned about a blow dryer. I would rather not have to drag one around if I don't need one.

Advice? Thanks!

I have never stayed in a hotel in Europe (including 5 RS tours), that did not have a hairdryer in the room.

It's been a realllly long time since I did Heart of Italy but in 2013 all the bathrooms were equipped with hair dryers. However, they did not blow as hard or as hot as US hand-held dryers.

If you have thick hair, you might consider getting a small travel size one when you get to Rome. It will have the right plug for Europe and won't blow the fuses like some of the 110/220 hair dryers here will do over there - even if you have it switched to the proper electric number.

I am able to let my short hair air dry but tried to use them to speed the drying of hand washing a couple of times.

This is an excellent tour for a taste of Italy. I had such a good time on it!

Hi Mary,

My hotel in Rome had a nice hair dryer that worked really well.

But, I'm not familiar with the hairdryers (supplied and/or how well they work) in hotels on a RS tour.

Electronic stores, Simply Market or (the bigger) Coops in Italy sell hairdryers and curling irons (so I was told.)

Also, in the States, stores sell dual hair appliances. Maybe check on line or even Bed, Bath & Beyond.

I bring my own travel size dual voltage hairdryer and flatiron. By and large the hotel hairdryers are worthless even in high end hotels.

I haven't taken an RS tour but I have traveled Italy (and other parts of Europe) and never taken a hair dryer. As near as I can recall, all of our rooms had them, and they worked well enough on my thick hair to be happy I didn't drag one along.

Hi Mary, I have travelled in Italy several time and as far as you stay in at least a 3stars hotel/agriturism you'll find an hairdryer! Enjoy your stay!!!

It has been years since I have seen a hotel - large or small - anywhere without a dryer. If you don't find it in the bathroom look in a drawer or cupboard or ask the desk. It is there somewhere, or they will lend you one from the desk.

Don't carry coals to Newcastle.
