Gusta Pizza - simple, reasonably priced pizza in Firenze. For a change.

It is challenging to find high quality pizza in Firenze without spending too much money. Gusta Pizza is near Pitti Palace so it is easy to find. It is always full of friendly people, and the Margherita pizza is simply incredible and very reasonably priced.

You enter from the side door and place your order, pay and are handed a number. Be sure and tell them if you are eating in or taking it away as they will seat you when it is ready.

They have beer and soft drinks, and it is a very friendly vibe.

You are so right!! We have been going to Gusta when in Florence for maybe 15 years and when we lived there, we would be there a couple of times a week. I like it that they make each pizza to order in that big wood-burning oven and you can watch it being made, It is always busy- if you show up half an hour before they open, there is a line. In fact, there is always a line and it is full of Italians, a lot of them students. We usually carry it out for a picnic because the place is so crowded and you may wait a while for a table at busy times. Also they give you plastic cutlery which might break. We don't worry about prices but just taste and these are really tasty pizzas.

Hi!
I am a European and lived in Italy for a few years. So maybe our taste and exigences are not the same.
Two weeks ago I went to gusta pizza with a friend and we took a pizza (take away) to our nearby apartment via maggio.
We were really disappointed. The paste of the pizza was far too thick and was not very tasty. Three days ago, I was in Torino in another pizzeria, what a change! Pizza was thin and crispy with savory topings.
Naples is the city to eat a nice pizza and Rome is not far behind.
Regarding Gusta, yesterday I went to try the gusta osteria just a few blocks from gusta pizza and belonging to same owner. I had tuna fish which was far too cooked to be tender and far too salty and not fresh. The waitress was nice and told the cook about the fish but he did not come to me to appologize or ask me further. I felt that at gusta osteria people were treated like cattle and I will certainly not return to Gusta neither for a pizza nor to the Osteria. It is just a disgrace for Italy. Should you wish to find a nice place to eat in Florence, I could give you a few in the same area at very good prices.
When coming to Italy, go to people who love their work and do their best to make you discover other taste and good food.

Here is a thought...

You have every right to post you dislike a place. But you went over the top.

Instead of a very personal attack on the owner of Gusta (disgrace to Italy is a little dramatic)....how about a positive post listing the details of the alternative places you mention? Then others can try them.

And, not costing 40 Euros a pizza.

Then you are contributing instead of just yelling.

I posted this post yesterday and I really disliked this place. It has been in fact months that I saw your place and it is only lately that I tried it as said in the post, I tried Gusta osteria three days ago and the pizza two weeks ago. I do not find these two plsces particularly cheap either, just average price
I will gladly provide some other addresses of places I am ready to recommend:
At lunch time, in the same area as Gusta Osteria, at the price of 11 euros a whole meal with primo, secondo and coffee.
This is its name:
Trattoria Giovanni
Via San Agostino 38r
50125 Florence
Tel: 3280728028

Another place where they have nice sandwiches and nice cold Tuscan dishes:
Lo Sdrucciolo
Michele Venturini
Sdrucciolo di Pitti 8/R
50125 Florence
Tel: 055 294803

I will give you the names and addresses of other nice places ( I never go to very costly places). I will open another post for Torino and this such nice pizza I recently ate. Torino is also a nice city to visit.

Patrick I have nothing against the people of Gusta, but against the food I was served. I find it is a disgrace because we in Italy eat better at home than what I was served there. I expect to eat in a restaurant at least as well as at home.
This does not mean that it has to be expensive.
In Italy, go and eat where Italian working people go, you will eat well at a fair price.
Go in the nearby streets you will find jewels.
I will soon post another post with where to eat a nice pizza in Florence, as I think it should be done. Watch out.
Hope you will soon come back in Florence.
