After doing way too much research I stayed at Hotel dei Barbieri in Rome. It's a small hotel on a very quiet little street in the Campo di Fiore neighborhood. The owners have renovated a very old building keeping much of what was there (stone walls, painted ceilings, etc.) into something modern and cool. The staff was excellent. I would stay there again in a heart beat. It was appropriately priced for services.
How far is it from FCO?
Campo de' Fiori is 18 or 19 miles from the airport.
was this close to sights - like Trevi Fountain and were there local restaurants nearby?
Terry, the poster said it was in the Campo di Fiori area. Campo di Fiori is central to almost everything, just across the road from Piazza Navona, and through Piazza Navona towards Vatican City.
I mention this because I know the layout of the city, not because I know the hotel - which I don't.
I walked everywhere-I didn't use public transportation once-except to the Vatican. Lots of restaurants because you can walk everywhere; Trastevere, etc.
Does the hotel serve breakfast, if not, are coffee shops close?
Thank you.
Thanks for the tip!
There is always coffee, pastries, etc. available but you can request breakfast. Also plenty of places to eat near by.
Thank you! I just booked this for 4 nights in November. My friend and I will be finishing up Rick Steve's "Best of Spain" and waiting to start "Sicily." We are looking forward to a few days in Rome.
How are the rates?
