Leaving Florence and going to Cortona, Perugia and Assisi all by train. Looking to find for quaint hotel accommodations in all 3 towns that don't require renting a car to get to the hotel. Any thoughts?
What do you mean by "quaint?"
I guess I mean something that is representative of the area I'm in. I don't want the type of hotel we see in the states. I want something that is old, and part of the area I'm staying in.
Old world would probably be a better word to describe the type of accomodations I'd be interested in.
I have been in Assisi in Hotel Cenacolo. Is a marvellous 4 stars hotel with very good restaurant with tipical umbrian cuisine. Very very beatuiful hotel with a great service and is very close to Assisi train station ( 5 minutes walkin ).
Thank you all for your recommendations.
We are looking for the same thing . . . in Assisi & Cortona . . . we are looking thru Rick Steves recommendations, but we have friends that LOVE "Monastery Stays" . . . it's super cheap, clean, safe . . . they look thru the website to find the convent they like and then they book directly thru the convent instead of Monastery Stays . . . TripAdvisor had good reviews of them too. Some of the nuns don't speak English, but they've never had any issues at all. And they truly are 'Old World'
Thanks chinalake. I will visit the website to see what is available. Sounds like a wonderful way to go!
Camere Annalisa Martini is a wonderful gem located near the main piazza (Piazza del Comune) in Assisi. I loved staying here in summer 2014. Perfect location right in the middle of the town. Owners are fabulous and friendly!
