I will be in Florence for 9 days in late December and early January. I was there last year for a week in November. I am looking for a really good place for fish. Any recommendations? I really want to stay away from typical tourist places, obviously.

There is a lovely place which we have enjoyed twice called Fuor d’Acqua. It was recommended to us by our concierge some years ago, and he said don’t go too early because “the fish has to come from the sea”. It is that fresh! The crowd appeared to be mostly elegant Florentines. It is a bit of a price splurge- portions are large, so be sure and share the pasta course, etc. We still love the memory of our beautiful night out in this city. It is a short cab ride across the river, away from the tourist center.
